The Immigrant's Dream — Which European Countries Have the Lowest Living Costs.


Europe is associated with high prices, but some countries turn out to be quite affordable for living. The portal Laure Wanders examined countries where living economically is possible.
The cheapest country for living and traveling is Bulgaria. In the capital of this country, the costs of utilities, food, and other services amount to 800 euros, which is 54% less than in the United Kingdom
Among other countries where living costs are not high:
- Romania — 800 euros/month;
- Poland — 900 euros/month;
- Hungary — 900 euros/month;
- Croatia — 1,000 euros/month;
- Slovakia — 1,000 euros/month.
Average Cost of Living in Ukraine
According to Numbeo, an average person in Ukraine needs about 20,000 UAH for food, utilities, and transport, which is approximately 400 euros. However, this amount does not include rent for housing.
Salaries in Ukraine and Europe
Low living costs do not always reflect the true financial situation. It is also important to compare employees' salaries. For example, in Bulgaria, the average income is the lowest among EU countries. Other countries also have their income figures.
- Romania — 2,000 euros/month;
- Poland — 2,768 euros/month;
- Hungary — 2,256 euros/month;
- Croatia — 2,640 euros/month;
- Slovakia — 2,960 euros/month;
- Slovenia — 4,336 euros/month;
- Czech Republic — 2,912 euros/month;
- Latvia — 2,416 euros/month;
- Lithuania — 2,608 euros/month;
- Portugal — 2,912 euros/month;
- Italy — 4,944 euros/month.
In the mentioned countries, citizens receive 30-50% less due to taxation.
The majority of European countries have high living costs; however, some countries prove to be quite accessible even compared to Ukrainian standards. Average salaries in different countries are significantly higher than in Ukraine; however, it is essential to consider the expenses, which usually balance the overall quality of life.
