The National Antarctic Scientific Center reported the discovery of a huge iceberg near the 'Akademik Vernadsky' station in Antarctica. Its size is indeed impressive: its length is 1,285 meters, visible height – 80 meters, width – about 90 meters. This ice island impresses with its dimensions.

Polar explorers explained that such large icebergs break off from the shelf glaciers. This particular iceberg probably separated from one of the shelf glaciers, for example, George VI or Wilkins.

The largest iceberg remains A23a, with an area of about 3.1 thousand square kilometers. Ukrainian scientists also recorded and described five unusual atmospheric phenomena near the 'Akademik Vernadsky' station in Antarctica.

The news of the discovery of a huge iceberg near the 'Akademik Vernadsky' station in Antarctica will be interesting to the general public and will contribute to deepening research on the Antarctic ice sheet and studying its impact on the planet's climate.
