The Combat Nurse Saved Soldiers with a Grenade Launcher

In a difficult moment during a powerful attack by Russian troops, a combat nurse from the Territorial Defense Forces in Zaporizhzhia became a leader and saved the unit from encirclement by destroying an enemy group with a grenade launcher. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports this feat.

Svetlana, who has extensive experience working as an intensive care nurse at Mechnikov Hospital, took command of the unit when the commander became inactive. Located at a rotary support point, she took instructions from the commander and coordinated the actions of the fighters on the battlefield.

“I asked the guys to hold on and under no circumstances leave their positions, because then we definitely won't hold on. Then I took a disposable grenade launcher and went to meet the Russian stormtroopers. They got too close...”

Her decisive action helped stop the enemy attack and save the unit from encirclement. For her act, the commander awarded her the Cross of the Ground Forces, which is already the third award she has received for her bravery on the battlefield.

This example of military courage from Svetlana has become an important step in a strategically important operation and helped maintain the positions of Ukrainian defenders. Such images of courage and readiness for dedicated service support the fighting spirit at the front and inspire the Ukrainian military to victory.
