Price Gap: How the Cost of Milk, Butter and Sour Cream Differs at Markets and Supermarkets.

The prices of dairy products continue to rise despite inflation and economic instability. According to a study by the portal "Khvilya," significant differences in dairy product prices have been identified in retail networks and markets.
At the market, a liter of milk with 2.5% fat content can be purchased for 32.76 UAH, while in chain stores, the price for milk with 2.6% fat content ranges from 39.50 to 45.99 UAH for 900 ml, with an average price of 43.24 UAH. This indicates savings when buying at the market.
“Savings when buying dairy products at the market can be significant,” experts noted.
Butter also shows a significant price gap. At the market, a 180-gram package of butter with 62% fat content costs 54.60 UAH. In supermarkets, 200 g of butter with 73% fat content is priced at 92.50 UAH.
“The price in stores for butter is significantly higher, even considering the difference in volume and fat content of the product,” experts noted.
The situation with sour cream is slightly different. At the market, a 350-gram package of sour cream with 15% fat content is offered for 27.98 UAH, and 20% for 37.75 UAH. In supermarkets, the average price for sour cream with 15% fat content of the same weight is 45.64 UAH.
“The price difference is not so big, especially considering the convenience of shopping in the store,” experts noted.
Previously in Ukraine, socially significant products such as sugar, bread, and flour increased in price.
