Financial Times: EU predicts a difficult winter for Ukrainians.

This winter will be difficult for Ukraine, as the country has lost half of its energy capacity due to shelling and fighting. EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson emphasizes that the next winter will test the Ukrainian people similarly to World War II.
The next winter is likely to test the resilience of the Ukrainian people in a way not seen on our continent since World War II, - Simson said.
Simson noted that Russia has intensified attacks on the energy and civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, destroying facilities that had been rebuilt after reconstruction. According to her, Russia has destroyed or seized half of the electricity needed by Ukraine in winter.
The EU representative warns that the lack of power supply will lead to a lack of water, heating, and other basic services. Some areas of Ukraine may become uninhabitable during the severe cold.
Simson calls on the international community to do more to support Ukraine. She proposes the repair of electricity and heat generation facilities, the supply of generators, the installation of solar panels, and the strengthening of energy infrastructure protection.
Kadri Simson urges everyone who can help to provide support to Ukraine ahead of the approaching winter.
It is worth noting that in Ukraine, power outages for consumers will begin again from August 19. The Cabinet of Ministers is also seeking funds to expand electricity generation in the Chernihiv region.
