Major Yevheniy Hromadskiy, Hero of Ukraine, shared information about the corruption scandal that surprised him. This happened when Oleksiy Reznikov was still the Minister of Defense and it concerned the procurement of military uniforms. However, the uniforms were purchased at inflated prices and were of low quality, reports 'Hlavkom' referencing an interview with Bihus.info.

'I saw this uniform. I saw how they refused it. I do not understand why it was purchased abroad when we had our own production that was of better quality,' said Hromadskiy.

The major noted that this case personally affected him and evoked strong emotions. However, he did not react to other news about corruption since he had his own military affairs to deal with.

'The rest of the corruption scandals did not concern me. I had my own military issues,' stated Yevheniy Hromadskiy.

It should be reminded that the Ministry of Defense in autumn 2022 signed a contract with the Turkish company Vector avia hava araçlari for the supply of winter clothing. The company delivered 233,000 jackets worth $20 million and 202,000 pants worth $13 million to Ukraine from October to December. It is mentioned that the price was reasonable for winter clothing. The jackets from the Turkish company cost $86. The second supplier from Bulgaria imported Chinese jackets for the Ministry of Defense costing $95. But the problem was that the jackets from Turkey were actually summer, not winter. The average weight of the Chinese jackets was 2 kg, while the Turkish ones weighed 1.1 kg.

As reported, on August 23, a meeting of the anti-corruption committee regarding the procurement of military jackets by the Ministry of Defense took place. Reznikov did not appear at the meeting, and his place was taken by Deputy Denys Sharapov.

Yevheniy Hromadskiy openly spoke about the corruption scandal with the procurement of military uniforms that outraged him. He expressed his outrage that the uniforms were purchased at inflated prices and of low quality, although domestic production could have been used, which would have been significantly better. He personally felt this case, hence his emotions were very strong. He also stated that other scandals related to corruption did not worry him since he had his own military affairs. Revealing details of the scandal, Hromadskiy noted that the jackets purchased from Turkey were actually summer ones, not winter ones, which significantly worsened the conditions for Ukrainian servicemen. This is a disgraceful example of corruption in the defense sector that requires thorough investigation and accountability of those who made decisions regarding such procurements.
