Investors lose interest in building green energy due to debt crisis - Konechenkov.

The state should prevent the accumulation of debts for green electricity in 2025, as this affects investors and leads to a decrease in interest in building new green power plants. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Andriy Konechenkov. According to him, the debt to investors amounts to 35.8 billion UAH.
«It really negatively affects investors - those who want to enter, and those who are already working in Ukraine. They cannot settle with banks in Time, and banks, accordingly, charge them fines. And this process has not stopped yet», - said Konechenkov.
According to him, the state should regulate the situation to prevent the accumulation of debts to renewable energy enterprises. This can be done through the financial stabilization of "Ukrenergo", which makes payments for increasing the share of electricity from RES. In addition, he suggested calculating the period for repaying old debts.
«When we signed the memorandum in 2020 (with the government - ed.), we were promised to completely resolve the debt issue within a year and a half, but this did not happen», - explained the representative of the investors.
Konechenkov noted that this affects investors' trust in the government and leads to a reduction in investments in green energy even before the war began. He claims that if the state fulfilled its obligations, there would be much more investment. This affects not only the development of green energy but also the overall investment climate in Ukraine.
«If the state fulfilled its obligations, then we would have had much more investment. And not only in wind energy, green energy, but in Ukraine as a whole. Such examples of increasing debts and lack of state responsibility worsen the investment climate - this is a fact», - concluded Konechenkov.
According to the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, investors have 4 GW of wind energy projects that can be implemented in Ukraine in the future.
