Currency confiscation: Ukrainians may have euros and dollars taken away.

Ukrainian citizens who take cash with them on international trips must adhere to customs regulations to avoid fines and confiscation of funds. The State Customs Service of Ukraine has established restrictions on the transportation of cash across borders. If the amount does not exceed 10 thousand euros, it does not need to be declared. However, if the amount exceeds this limit, the citizen must not only declare the funds but also provide documentary evidence of their origin.
What documents are required for exporting currency
For residents of Ukraine, it is necessary to have confirmation of cash withdrawal from a bank account, a certificate of purchase of bank metals (if applicable), and a receipt or voucher for currency exchange for amounts over 10,000 euros. Documents for cash withdrawal have a limited validity period - 90 days from the date of receipt. For non-residents, it is sufficient to correctly fill out the customs declaration.
Liability for violating customs regulations
Since 2022, updated norms of liability for violations of currency transportation rules have been in effect in Ukraine. A fine of 20% of the amount exceeding the permitted limit is imposed for non-declaration of foreign currency. In cases of deliberate evasion of declaration or attempts of illegal transportation, the fine increases to 100% of the amount, and the currency is subject to confiscation. Even after paying the fine, if the necessary documents are not provided, the currency remains at customs, making its export impossible.
It is important to adhere to customs regulations when crossing the border to avoid financial losses and legal problems during trips abroad.
