The operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the territory of the Kursk region revealed several important factors in various spheres. Firstly, the Russian army turned out to be vulnerable and unable to effectively defend its territories. This was stated by military observer Denis Popovich.
We do not yet know what the outcome of the operation in the Kursk region will be. But it has already revealed a lot of interesting things. In particular, it turned out that the Russian army is vulnerable in the morning and cannot effectively defend its territory from external interference, Popovich said.
From a political point of view, the Kursk operation crossed all the 'red lines'.
In July or early August, who could imagine that the army of any country would be able to cross the Russian border without consequences? But this happened, and now there is discussion about why there is no corresponding reaction from Russia, where is their nuclear weapons and military doctrines that guaranteed the inviolability of Russia's borders? the observer added.
Popovich also noted that the local population of the Kursk region is not ready for war and lacks self-organization.
They are waiting for help and rescue, but most importantly, they debunk the myth that the Russian population supports the war and Putin. They have even begun to speak Ukrainian and communicate with Ukrainian soldiers, thanking them for their help. They also complain about the local authorities, who abandoned them, not organizing an evacuation, the speaker reported.
In general, Popovich believes that all this indicates the defeat of the Putin regime. However, from a military point of view, it is too early to draw conclusions, since the operation has not yet been completed.
Ukrainian forces may continue to advance and capture new areas in the Kursk region, and the Russian army is preparing a counteroffensive and accumulating forces to drive Ukrainian troops out of their territories, Popovich concluded.
