IAEA: Damage assessment from Russian attacks
The IAEA conducted an assessment of the damage to the energy infrastructure caused by attacks on energy facilities. These facilities are crucial for the operation of nuclear power plants and supplying energy to consumers. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
'Russian strikes on energy facilities threaten the safety of all of Europe. It is important to invite international experts to document the damage to energy infrastructure, which is key to the safe operation of nuclear power plants. Ukraine's cooperation with international partners is aimed at reducing the risks of nuclear incidents amid Russian aggression,' said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
IAEA experts, with the help of 'Ukrenergo', 'Energoatom', and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, investigated the damage to electrical substations that occurred as a result of Russian attacks in November-December.
Experts compared the intensity of the attacks and the level of damage with previous cases. In addition, IAEA representatives documented the results of recovery efforts and the condition of electrical substations.
