Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the war has led to tragic losses among the Ukrainian cultural and media elite. According to official data, 207 artists and 106 Ukrainian and foreign media workers have died. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

The Ministry indicates that today, Russian aggression is aimed at the destruction of Ukraine's cultural elite, reminiscent of the Stalinist regime of the 1920s and early 1930s, known for the destruction of a generation of Ukrainian artists, referred to as 'the Executed Renaissance.'

Journalists at increased risk

The war also takes the lives of journalists who work in Ukraine under increased risk. They create important news, investigations, and reports to provide Ukraine and the world with reliable information. Media workers gather irrefutable evidence of the occupiers' crimes around the clock and highlight the strength, heroism, and courage of Ukrainian defenders.

Russian aggression and the war in Ukraine have led to serious losses in the fields of culture and journalism. The death of many talented artists and journalists illustrates how the conflict has affected the lives and talents of those who have become part of this tragedy.
