The Ministry of Justice announced how many babies were born in the first half of 2024.


During the first half of 2024, 87,655 children were registered as born in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.
The most births occurred in Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In addition, 72,766 couples got married during this period.
In particular, 9,695 children were born in Kyiv, 7,923 in the Lviv region, 6,962 in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 6,197 in the Odesa region, 4,947 in the Kyiv region, 4,532 in the Rivne region, 4,323 in the Zakarpattia region, 4,005 in the Vinnytsia region, 3,916 in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, and 3,798 in the Kharkiv region.
Also, during the first half of 2024, 72,766 couples got married. The most marriage records were registered by the civil status registration departments in Kyiv - 9,392, in the Dnipropetrovsk region - 7,076, in the Odesa region - 4,896, in the Kyiv region - 4,848, in the Lviv region - 4,616, in the Kharkiv region - 4,148, in the Vinnytsia region - 3,362, in the Poltava region - 3,065, in the Cherkasy region - 3,001, and in the Khmelnytskyi region - 2,925.
However, the number of divorces during the half-year was only 15,578 married couples.
In addition, according to the Ministry of Justice, during this period, 4,605 Ukrainians changed their name, surname, and patronymic. The most such changes were registered in Kyiv - 709, in the Dnipropetrovsk region - 390, in Lviv - 329, in Odesa - 325, and in the Kyiv region - 291.
Recall that according to the forecasts of the director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M.V. Ptukha of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ella Libanova, by 2030, the population of Ukraine may decrease to 24-32 million people.
As of now, the estimated population of Ukraine as of January 1, 2023, is 28-34 million people, considering the State Statistics Service data as of January 1, 2022 - 41.2 million people.
