The Ministry of Foreign Affairs launches the 'e-Consul' system: what new opportunities will Ukrainians receive.


Ukrainian citizens abroad will be able to receive public services and consular actions online
On December 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the resolution developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 'On the implementation of the experimental project for the provision of public services and consular actions upon requests from individuals who are outside Ukraine through the Unified State Web Portal of electronic services and/or the information and communication system 'e-Consul'. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the new resolution will provide Ukrainian citizens abroad with the following opportunities:
- issuance of ID cards with delivery by mail (one visit to the embassy or consulate is required to submit documents);
- issuance of foreign passports in one visit for biometric data collection with subsequent mail delivery;
- registration in the State Register of Taxpayers through embassies and consulates;
- exchange of driver's license or obtaining it after loss or theft;
- comprehensive service for registering newborns, which includes:
- - state registration of the child's birth (issuance of a birth certificate);
- registration of the child as a citizen of Ukraine;
- inclusion of the child in the Unified State Demographic Register (assignment of an ID number);
- registration of the child in the State Register of Taxpayers.
From now on, service applications can be submitted through the portal or the 'Diia' mobile application.
It is reminded that currently 7.7 million Ukrainian citizens are abroad. Of them, 5.3 million are in the EU.
