Oksana Pekun – 55. Biography of the People's Artist and Host of 'Folk-music'.


Ukrainian pop singer, People's Artist of Ukraine, and TV host Oksana Pekun is celebrating her 55th birthday today.
Oksana Pekun was born in Ternopil and showed her talent from childhood. She graduated from a music school and then the music faculty at the Ternopil Pedagogical Institute. The artist sang in the institute's ensemble "Molodist" under the direction of Oleksandr Burmitsky, with whom she created popular songs. She became famous in Ukraine thanks to her hits such as "Kavyarnya kохannya" and "Ne zalyshay".
Participation in festivals and competitions brought her numerous awards, and her songs became hits of the year. One of them, "Zelen klen", was named a hit of the 20th century.
Oksana Pekun also became the host of the music program "Folk-music", which aimed to revive Ukrainian folk songs and popularize authentic music among young people. The program received recognition and a nomination for the "Teletreiumph" award.
Despite the difficulties, Oksana Pekun always participated in charity concerts and supported Ukrainian military and civilians in difficult times. She is a merited and People's Artist of Ukraine.
Oksana Pekun has a husband, Volodymyr Kovalenko, and is a mother of many children and a grandmother.
