Russian occupiers hit the dam of the Kurakhiv reservoir in the Donetsk region
A video of a missile strike by Russian occupiers on the dam of the Kurakhiv reservoir in the Donetsk region has appeared online. As a result of the attack, there was a water leak, which flows into the Vovcha river towards the villages of Bohatyr, Andriivka, and Oleksiyivka. Due to constant enemy shelling, a detailed inspection of the dam's damage is currently impossible. But there is no critical situation, and no flooding of residential buildings has been recorded.
'I contacted my colleagues. There is no critical situation, no flooded houses yet,' - said Roman Padun, the head of the Kurakhiv city military administration.
Strategic importance of dam destruction
Lately, the occupiers have been actively trying to hit the Ternivska dam with guided aerial bombs, but the dam's construction prevents the complete draining of the reservoir. Military expert Mykhailo Zhyrokhov notes that the destruction of the dam could have a positive effect on the Ukrainian defense, as it will provide them with an additional water barrier to deter the enemy.
Airstrikes in the Zaporizhzhia region
Also, it should be recalled that the occupiers carried out airstrikes in the Zaporizhzhia region.
