US cooperates with Congress to preserve funding from the aid package for Ukraine
The US Department of Defense cooperates with Congress to retain the funding that will remain from the $60 billion aid package for Ukraine after the end of the fiscal year.
This was stated by Pentagon spokesperson General Patrick Ryder.
"At the end of the fiscal year, the authority (to allocate aid by the order of the US president – ed.) will end. Therefore, we are now working with Congress to extend this authority and be able to continue allocating aid packages," said the military department representative.
At the same Time, he announced that by the end of the month the United States would allocate several more aid packages to Ukraine.
Recall that in April, the US president signed a law that allowed more than $60 billion to be transferred to support Ukraine. The fiscal year in the United States lasts until September 30. As of early September, more than $6 billion from the total package remained unused.
To carry over the remaining funding to the next fiscal year, the US administration must submit a corresponding request for Congress approval.
