Price increase for products in June
Ukrainian prices for demanded food products have significantly risen. The most notable increase was in apple prices - by 195.5% over the year. There is also an observed increase in prices for vegetables, particularly cabbage and carrots. Expert of the Economic Discussion Club Oleh Pendzin spoke about this on the air of Morning.LIVE.
Is a drop in food prices expected in July?
According to the State Statistics Service, apples, cabbage, carrots, eggs, oil, grains, and other products have risen in price due to poor harvests in 2024. Prices have increased due to changes in growing conditions, as well as a shortage of labor for harvesting.
The expert noted that inflation in June was 14.3%, and the food basket has become 23% more expensive compared to last year. However, he predicted that prices may slightly decrease in the summer, especially for open-ground vegetables.
Forecast for food price drop in August
Pendzin believes that in July Ukrainians will feel a decrease in the prices of certain products. Moreover, in September, a drop in prices compared to last year is expected, provided favorable weather conditions and a good harvest. In general, he predicts an improvement in the situation with food prices.
