Use of hazard lights - a violation of traffic rules
In Ukraine, there are unwritten rules of automotive culture that contradict official traffic regulations. One such example is the use of hazard lights to thank or apologize after a maneuver on the road. However, this is a violation of traffic rules and can have serious consequences.
One such situation when 'hazard lights' are violated is a violation that incurs a fine of 425 hryvnias. In the event of causing an emergency situation, this violation can lead to the withdrawal of the right to drive vehicles for one year.Traffic safety experts emphasize that hazard lights have a specific legal application, and using them for communication between drivers is unacceptable. The use of hazard lights is permitted in specific situations, such as in case of vehicle malfunctions, when a vehicle gets stuck, during forced stops, when blinded by headlights, at the request of a police officer, and at the scene of a traffic accident.
