Experts from the Molfar Intelligence Institute conducted an analysis of the safest messengers in 2025 to help Ukrainian users make their choice.

• If you need privacy, security and protection – choose Signal, which encrypts all your messages and has open source code.
• For absolute anonymity, use Session or Threema.
• For daily communication, you can use Viber or WhatsApp.

Telegram – popular, but not very safe

Experts note that despite its popularity, Telegram has security issues: insufficient encryption for regular chats and the possibility for the company to access user messages.

Particular concern is the possible collaboration of Telegram with Russian special services, which creates additional risks for user security.

Recommendations for choosing a messenger

According to the analysis results, it is recommended to avoid using Telegram, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat for confidential conversations due to potential risk factors for security and privacy.

Despite the paid service, Threema provides the highest level of security and confidentiality for users, according to our research.
