Heating tariffs in Kyiv will rise by up to 50%: when to expect the increase

The director of the Energy Supply Company of Kyiv Heat Energy, Konstantin Lopatyn, reported that heating prices in Kyiv will significantly rise. Currently, residents are paying less than the cost of providing these services due to restrictions during the state of war.

According to Kyivteploenergo, the current prices do not reflect the actual costs of heating and hot water. After the end of the war, an increase in payments of up to 50 percent is expected.

'There is an economically justified tariff that our company submits annually. However, since there is a moratorium on price increases during the state of war, there is a difference between the economically justified tariff and the one that is applied. After the war is over, all prices will be brought to the level of economically justified', Lopatyn explained.

Currently, Kyiv residents pay about 1500 hryvnias per month for heating, but this amount may increase to 3000 hryvnias after the end of the war and the lifting of the moratorium. Increases are also expected in other utility payments.

Summary

According to the director of Kyivteploenergo, heating prices in Kyiv may double after the end of the war. This is a consequence of the delayed price increases during the restrictions due to the conflict. Residents should be prepared for the rise in utility service prices after the lifting of the moratorium on price increases.
