Ukrainians are advised on how to protect themselves from fraudsters during Black Friday.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine informs about this.
The sales for 'Black Friday' attract not only buyers but also fraudsters who are active during this Time. It is important to be cautious and know the basic protective measures against fraud.
During major discounts, criminals use various tricks: they can create fake websites, spread false promo codes, or offer incredibly attractive but non-existent products. To protect yourself, you should only shop on verified platforms, carefully check the seller's reputation, and critically examine tempting offers.
In particular, the perpetrators use the most common tricks:
- Detailed website. The criminals create fake copies of popular online stores and marketplaces. The offers are enticing, but the ordered product never arrives.
- False offers on social networks. Fraudsters advertise 'super discounts' and disappear after the advance payment for the product.
- Phishing links. Fraudsters send messages with supposedly advantageous offers but actually intend to steal your data.
To protect yourself, the Ministry of Internal Affairs advises Ukrainians:
- To buy products only in verified stores with positive reputations and real addresses.
- To check the URL address of the website – these stores have no errors in their names.
- Not to click on suspicious links from emails or social networks.
- To choose cash on delivery to check the product before payment.
In case of suspicion of fraud:
- Block your card if you entered your data on a suspicious website.
- Inform your bank about suspicious transactions to block the payment or get your money back.
- Keep all evidence: screenshots, receipts, messages.
- Contact the Cyber Police: cyberpolice.gov.ua.
'Be careful and do not let yourself be deceived!' the Ministry of Internal Affairs urges.
Earlier it was reported that fraudsters posed as employees of ROZETKA.
