Drivers fined for license plates: someone could face nearly 1200 hryvnias.

Ukrainian drivers can receive a fine of up to one thousand hryvnias for not knowing or ignoring a simple rule. This was reported by the Road Lawyer.
In addition to obvious violations such as speeding or running a red light, drivers should pay attention to less noticeable violations that can also lead to fines. One such case is associated with dirty license plates.
It turns out that this is a common problem. Moreover, such a violation can affect drivers' wallets - they could receive a fine of 1190 hryvnias.
According to traffic rules, police have grounds to stop a car if its number is so dirty that one character cannot be distinguished from a distance of 20 meters. A fine is provided for this violation.
This rule applies to all drivers, regardless of the reasons for the dirty license plates.
However, legal experts note that in some cases a driver can defend their interests. If the plates became dirty during travel and the driver did not notice it, the police must have clear evidence of the violation to issue a fine.
If you are stopped, follow these recommendations:
- immediately clean the license plate
- if police insist on a fine, politely ask to show evidence of the violation
- remember that without proper evidence, the court usually stands on the side of the driver and dismisses such cases.
Cameras have recorded a record number of traffic violations.
