Already 340 hryvnias per kilo: Ukrainians shocked by prices for cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers in March.


Prices for popular vegetables continue to rise in Ukraine. Some of them already cost 340 hryvnias per kilogram. This information is provided by the Minfin portal.
In spring, Ukrainians actively prepare fresh salads to replenish their vitamin supplies. However, the prices for major vegetables in March are forcing many to reconsider their budgets. Despite this, the demand for fresh vitamins remains high, and Ukrainians continue to buy vegetables for spring dishes. Let’s look at how the prices for cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers changed as of March 12.
The prices for smooth cucumbers decreased from 144.75 UAH/kg to 114.80 UAH/kg in March. Short-fruited cucumbers also became cheaper from 119.40 UAH/kg to 109.80 UAH/kg. However, the cucumbers of the 'Estafeta' variety showed a decrease of only 13.4% - from 274.94 UAH/kg to 238.03 UAH/kg.
The prices for red tomatoes increased from 107.64 UAH/kg in February to 130.40 UAH/kg in March. Pink tomatoes rose in price from 160.11 UAH/kg to 189.30 UAH/kg. Meanwhile, the prices for 'vershka' tomatoes decreased from 122.99 UAH/kg to 176.10 UAH/kg.
Yellow bell pepper increased in price from 246.03 UAH/kg in February to 261.20 UAH/kg in March. However, in Ashan, it can still be bought for 215 UAH/kg, while in MegaMarket, one would have to pay 339.30 UAH/kg.
