Norway has started denying asylum to some refugees from Ukraine: categories.

Ukrainians are losing the opportunity to receive temporary protection in Norway. The country has decided to strengthen its policy regarding Ukrainian refugees by denying protection to some categories of Ukrainian citizens. This was reported by the Norwegian publication NRK, citing Norway's Minister of Justice Emilia Enger Mel. According to her, Norway is facing a refugee crisis that requires measures to protect those who need it most.
The Norwegian government has made changes to the policy of providing protection to Ukrainian citizens. Now protection is denied to citizens from "safe" regions such as Lviv and Lviv region, Volyn, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Rivne regions. Protection is also denied to individuals who did not reside in Ukraine at the Time of the Russian invasion in 2022. Ukrainians' applications will now be considered individually, taking into account dual citizenship or place of residence before coming to Norway, in particular.
We have more than 80 thousand Ukrainians in Norway. That's more than in the entire province of Finnmark. We need to take measures that will allow us to provide protection to those who need it most, - Emilia Enger Mel said.
Mel emphasized that no one will be forcibly corrected at the moment, but some Ukrainians have already been denied asylum and housing. Such measures are part of the overall austerity policy regarding Ukrainians and refugees from other countries. The Norwegian authorities explain these actions by the need to balance the asylum system in the face of a large influx of refugees.
According to the minister, Ukrainians from other regions will have the opportunity to receive protection, but she did not specify whether this collective protection rule will remain in force in 2025. Denied Ukrainians who have not traveled abroad may be provided with financial assistance by Norway.
