Pension recalculation, cigarette prices, end of the heating season: what will change on April 1.

In April, a pension recalculation will take place for working pensioners in Ukraine, a ban on spawning fishing in water bodies will come into effect, and utility tariffs will not rise. Various changes affecting the lives of Ukrainians will come into effect on April 1. Increase in excise taxes on tobacco products: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on increasing excise taxes on tobacco products from 2025. Starting April 1, the specific excise rate on filter and non-filter cigarettes will increase in Ukraine. The minimum tax liability will also increase. Payments for IDPs: The government extended payments for internally displaced persons for another six months. Everyone already receiving assistance will have automatic extensions of payments. End of the heating season: The heating season ended earlier in Kyiv and some other regions of Ukraine due to warm weather. In other regions, heating will be turned off if the average air temperature remains above +8 °C for three consecutive days. Changes in excise tax payment by ethyl alcohol and bioethanol producers: Starting April 1, ethyl alcohol and bioethanol producers will be required to determine tax liabilities for excise tax based on the guaranteed tax liability. Utility tariffs: The government does not plan to raise tariffs for utility services until April 30. Tariffs for electricity and gas remain at the same level. Water supply tariffs may change at the local level. Ban on fishing: A ban on spawning fishing in water bodies will be introduced on April 1. This restriction is established on rivers and their tributaries during April and May.
