Mike Johnson, the speaker of the lower house of the U.S. Congress, received significant voter support in Louisiana's 4th district and will continue his work in the House of Representatives in the next session.
According to The Hill, Mike Johnson surpassed Republican Joshua Marotta, who ran in the same district.
"Mike Johnson surpassed Republican Joshua Marotta, who ran with him in the district," The Hill reports, as per Ukrinform.
Marotta held a position on reducing the role of the U.S. Department of Education and repealing ObamaCare. He also opposed providing any foreign aid, believing that domestic affairs should be prioritized.
Johnson has already gained voter support and earned trust for five years in the House of Representatives.
