Vinnytsia resident won gold at the World Cup in para biathlon.


Ukrainian athlete Oleksandr Kazik became the winner of the first stage of the World Cup in para biathlon in Finland. He competed in the 7.5 km event for visually impaired athletes and managed to win a gold medal. In his race, he received assistance from coach and guide Serhii Kucheriavyi. This was reported by the National Committee of Sports for Persons with Disabilities.
Oleksandr Kazik already has two silver medals from the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games. In 2022, he became the winner of the Winter Paralympics in Beijing and also won gold in the Winter World Cup in skiing and biathlon.
Other athletes from the Ukrainian team also participated in the competitions. Serhii Romaniuk (category LW8, standing class) and Liudmyla Liashenko (category LW8, standing class) received silver medals in the 7.5 km biathlon sprint. A total of 28 athletes from Ukraine will participate in the overall World Cup in para biathlon in Vuokatti, including representatives with movement disorders Iryna Bui and Hryhorii Vovchynskyi.
The next World Cup competitions will take place on December 14 - it will be an individual race at 12.5 km.
It is also worth mentioning that the women's national team of Ukraine won an award on the very first day of the IBU Junior Cup in biathlon.
